There are materials that cannot, or should not be blasted with steel abrasive. These include surfaces of stainless steel, aluminum, sheet metal, plastic, glass and fiberglass. For this reason Gateway established the capability of blasting with specialty media, tailored for the surface to be treated. Over the years we have utilized aluminum oxide, ceramic beads, glass beads, plastic, sponge, and even corn starch based media.
All work is done in a 6,000 sf environmentally controlled building, containing ventilated blast booths with full media reclaim capabilities. Additionally, we have a “burn-off” oven that is capable of removing almost any organic coating if blasting is not required.
